ABSTRACT
This study evaluates the impact of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) on staff training and development in the John Harris Library at the University of Benin. The research examines how digital technologies have transformed traditional library operations and the consequent need for enhanced staff competencies. A descriptive survey method design was employed, with data collected through questionnaires distributed to library staffs and readers. The study investigates the effectiveness of current ICTbased training programs, identifies existing gaps, and assesses challenges faced by library personnel. Findings reveal ICT has transformed training through digital platforms, offering enhanced flexibility and global resource access. Results demonstrate a positive relationship between ICT-driven training initiatives and service quality, while emphasizing the importance of addressing digital literacy disparities among library personnel. Based on these findings, recommendations are provided for enhancing ICT integration in staff development programs, improving institutional support systems, and implementing sustainable strategies to maximize the benefits of technology in library operations.
