This research evaluated the proximateanalysis,phytochemical and mineral composition of Garcinia Kola (bitter kola). The proximate analysis showed that Carbohydrate (70.306%) was the most abundant biological molecule in the sample. The moisture content (10.430%) was considerably high while Ash (3.364%), Crude protein (10.808%), Crude fat (2.069%), Crude fibre (3.030%)were present in appreciable amounts.From the research, it’s been established through the Nutritional screening that Garcinia kola (bitter kola) can be used as a good source of Carbohydrate and Protein. The phytochemical analysis carried out showed Glycosides, Saponins,Alkaloids, and Terpenoids were all present while Phenolics, Eugenol, Steroids, Flavonoids and Tannins were absent. The mineral element content shows a high level of potassium (30.23ppm), magnesium (13.1ppm), sodium (1.5ppm), iron (0.5ppm). It is also a good source of Minerals necessary for metabolic activities in the body. The phytochemical composition also shows that Garcinia kola (bitter kola) can be useful in the pharmaceutical and medical science to make vaccine and supplements that can prevent diseases. These results therefore shows propose that Bitter kola contains nutritional and healthy benefits.
