ABSTRACT
This study x-rays the impact of Subsidy Re-investment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P) and economic development in Nigeria particularly in Delta State which was decided upon in January 1st 2012. The work adopted the use of structured Questionnaire methodology and used the Random Sampling method in selecting method in selecting the respondents from delta state. The study discovered that though SURE-P is a good policy that should be properly implemented, there is still high level of corruption, poor project implementation due to non release of funds, politicization of the programme which tends to forget the poor and the rural dwellers whom the programme was designed to capture. This study thus recommended that for the programme to achieve its aim of economic development, concerted efforts should be made to ensure the funds are well utilized and create jobs. While at the same time ensuring that the officials handling the programme are corrupt free.
