ABSTRACT
It is known that houses built by our forefathers in times past were made of clay and bamboo. Their reasons of making use of this materials were mostly because they were cheaply available and could easily be gotten around them. The main aim of this project was to minimize the quantity of cement required for stabilization and to propose the use of laterite bricks for the building and construction of buildings.
The experiment involved the production of 100mm by 50mm blocks with laterite samples from All Saints Seminary, Ugbor-Amagba road, Okomu oil road, Ekosin road, Ekehuan road using a locally fabricated moulding machine. The blocks were tested in the laboratory to determine their compressive strength and water absorption rates. The results indicated that all the stabilized bricks satisfied the minimum 21days compressive strength of not less than 1.65N/mm2
