ABSTRACT

Infertility is a common disorder among women and sometimes, cares for the feotus and infant babies are seldom not achieved through orthodox. This work documents plants for female fertility, pre and post natal of which 10, 12 and 16 plants were documented respectively among the Usen people of Edo state. A total of thirty-six (36) plants belonging to 26 different families were recorded. Amongst the plants identified Annonaceae, Apocynaceae, Asteraceae, Bignonaceae, Curcurbitaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Malvaceae, Palmae and Tiliaeeae are the most widely represented families with two species each while the rest with one species. Primary information on mean, mode, parts used also recorded. The major parts used were the leaves, 62%. Others are the stem bark, 13%, Roots, 11% Seeds, 5% shoot 3% whole plant, 3% and fruit liquid, 3% of the total number of plants collected. Some of the plants collected were solely administered while the others were administered in conjunction with other plants. Information on the botanical description, local and common names are also provided.
