SUMMARY
We shall list some of the project's key findings in our conclusion. It is clear that the focus of this essay is to analyze how ethnicity affected first republican politics. The paper examines the detrimental impact of ethnicity on Nigerian politics. It looked at how Nigerian politics would have developed if ethnicity hadn't served as the foundation for the structure. As we noted in chapter two of this work, ethnicity played a significant role in determining how Nigeria's politics developed throughout the First Republic, largely in large part as a result of this dynamic historical context. It also looks at the different leaders in Nigeria during the time and how, to a significant measure, their ethnicity affected the choices they made while they were in positions of authority and power. The chapter continues by describing how the 1962–1963 census contributed to escalating the rift between these two sides, which was already quite apparent.
