ETHNIC DIVERSITY AS A PANACEA TO NATIONAL UNITY IN EDO STATE

ABSTRACT

This study set out to Ethnic Diversity As A Panacea To National Unity In Edo State . The specific objectives were to ascertain ethnic diversity and national unity in Edo state, To critically examine ethnic diversity a problem in in Edo state. To examine the issues associated with ethnic diversity in Edo state. The study was guided by Consensus Theory of Society theory. Data were collected through survey method, with use of questionnaires. The study found that that ethnic diversity foster national unity through diverse means such as People wanting to coexist peacefully and carry on their normal business activity, Ethnic diversity foster good trade relations among people from various ethnic divides, It help unites people along religious and national divide, It unite citizen under one national umbrella as they see their selves as one nation, Its helps in uniting people from various ethnic divide against any external aggression.
