ABSTRACT

This research investigates the ethical implications of artificial intelligence (AI) in education, with a focus on bias, access, and equity. Through a detailed survey, responses were collected from various stakeholders in the educational sector, including students, teachers, parents, and administrators. The study aimed to address three primary research questions: the main ethical concerns regarding AI in education, strategies to design and implement inclusive AI systems, and the potential advantages and drawbacks of AI in addressing access and equity issues. The findings revealed significant concerns about bias, particularly socioeconomic and disability bias, and highlighted the multifaceted challenges related to access, such as cost, technology availability, and digital literacy. A substantial majority of participants emphasized the need for transparency and explainability in AI algorithms. The research also identified that a combination of personalized learning, AI tutoring, language translation, and early intervention could effectively support disadvantaged students. Moreover, while AI offers benefits like faster learning progress and tailored educational experiences, there are notable drawbacks, including the risk of overreliance on technology and reduced human interaction. The study concludes with recommendations for using AI as a complementary tool to support, rather than replace, teachers, ensuring the preservation of essential human elements in education. These insights contribute to the ongoing discourse on ethical AI deployment in education, aiming to promote fairness, inclusivity, and equitable access to educational opportunities for all learners
