ABSTRACT
Geophysical study based on 2-D dimensional electrical survey was carried out to estimate the thickness of clay deposited at university of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) and its environs in Ugbowo Local Government Area Benin City Edo State Nigeria. The survey technique made use of the Dipole-Dipole array to validate the operation of pulling together apparent resistivity data. Extensively, clay finds its utilization in the steel production. The data recorded after prospecting with maximum current electrode spacing of 250 meters was deduced using Abem sas terrameter. The end result of the electrical survey showed that clayey and clayey soils were present. The thickness of clay was estimated to be at about 10m to 40m respectively. Area of possible formation of clay have identified chiefly for future drilling operation and investigation.
