ABSTRACT
This research is an analysis of language errors using notice boards and posts in Benin City as a case study. This study is aimed at the identification, description, explanation, and evaluation of the various errors made on notice boards and posts in Benin City. In this research, the researcher adopts the error analysis model of Corder (1974) in the evaluation and analysis of language samples collected for this research. The findings of this research include the fact that the language errors evident on notice boards and posts in Benin City are: grammatical, morphological, language interference and phonological errors. This research concludes that the most common language errors on notice boards and posts in Benin City are the grammatical errors and error of language interference. The researcher in the last chapter of this work suggests possible steps to be taken in order to avoid the occurrence of language errors on notice boards and posts in Benin City and among English language users in general.
