ABSTRACT

This research study aims to explore the intersection of environmental governance and technological innovations in Nigeria from a legal perspective. Nigeria, like many other developing countries, faces significant environmental challenges due to rapid industrialisation and urbanisation. These challenges include deforestation, pollution, land degradation, and inadequate waste management, which have adverse effects on human health and the overall ecosystem. This study seeks to examine the role of legal frameworks in addressing environmental issues and promoting sustainable development in Nigeria. It focuses on the potential of technological innovations to enhance environmental governance and mitigate the negative impacts of human activities on the environment. The research study will analyse relevant laws and regulations governing environmental protection in Nigeria and assess their effectiveness in dealing with emerging environmental challenges. Furthermore, the research study will explore various technological innovations that can be applied to address environmental issues in Nigeria. These innovations may include renewable energy technologies, waste management systems, smart agriculture practices, and digital tools for environmental monitoring and reporting. The legal implications and regulatory frameworks surrounding these technologies will be examined to determine their potential for implementation and scalability in the Nigerian context. The research study will employ a multidisciplinary approach, combining legal analysis, policy evaluation, and case studies to provide a comprehensive understanding of the complex relationship between environmental governance, technological innovations, and legal frameworks in Nigeria. The findings of this research will contribute to the existing body of knowledge on environmental law and governance, while providing practical recommendations for policymakers, legal practitioners, and relevant stakeholders in Nigeria.
