ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND ECONOMIC GROWTH IN NIGERIA

ABSTRACT

This study investigates the impact of entrepreneurship on the economic growth of Nigeria. The objectives of this study are to evaluate and acknowledge the various contributions made by entrepreneurs to the economic development of Nigeria, highlighting their essential role in promoting progress. Additionally, the study aims to thoroughly examine the prevalence of entrepreneurship and its impact on the country's economic growth.The sample size consisted of one hundred (100) owners and managers of small- and medium-sized businesses (SMEs).The researcher employed a questionnaire to collect relevant data for the study, and the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) was utilized to evaluate the data.The study's conclusion is derived on data collected from respondents through a collaborative questionnaire on entrepreneurship and economic growth in Nigeria.Based on a thorough examination of diverse economic indicators and entrepreneurial endeavors, it is indisputable that this study has elucidated the substantial influence of entrepreneurship on economic progress in Nigeria. Entrepreneurship has a crucial role in driving GDP development, generating employment opportunities, fostering innovation, and facilitating wealth accumulation in the Nigerian economy. Legislators should prioritize the establishment of regulatory frameworks and the implementation of favorable policies to stimulate entrepreneurship and reduce obstacles for potential business owners. To equip individuals with the necessary skills and mindset for thriving in entrepreneurship, I recommend that educational institutions incorporate entrepreneurship education and training programs
