ABSTRACT
The main objective of this study is to ascertain the effect of entreprene=urial dimensions on firm performance. Following the broad objective of this study, the following entrepreneurial dimensions were examined: entrepreneur’s pro-activeness, innovativeness, risk-taking ability and competitiveness aggressiveness.
In line with the objectives of this study, a descriptive survey research design was adopted. Primary data (questionnaires), which were validated through a content, theoretical and researcher’s screening were administered to 300 respondents. Following this, the descriptive method of analysis was used to explain the results of the study; while the ordinary least square regression test-statistic was used to analyse the hypotheses of the study.
Consequently, the following findings were discovered: The entrepreneur’s innovativeness has a positive impact on firm performance. Similarly, the entrepreneur’s pro-activeness impacts positively on firm performance. Likewise, the entrepreneur’s risk-taking ability is positively significant to firm performance. Finally, the entrepreneur’s competitive aggressiveness affects firm performance positively. All the aforementioned findings exudes p-values lesser than (>) 0.05. Based on the findings of this work, the study concluded that there is a positive and significant relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and firm performance. Consequently, the following recommendations were made: companies should consider entrepreneurial strategies as part of steps for improving performance and firms should intensify initiatives to encourage better understanding of EO.
