ABSTRACT

This study examined entrepreneurial development and employment creation in Nigeria, with the specific objective of evaluating the impact of entrepreneurship development initiatives on employment generation, investigating the key challenges faced by entrepreneurs in Nigeria in terms of accessing funding, infrastructure and knowing how entrepreneurial education programs and mentorship initiatives influence the entrepreneurial mindset. Three research questions were raised to guide this study. A descriptive survey research design was used. This study population was drawn from Ovia north east local government, Benin City, with a sample size of 85 participants. The method of data analysis was a frequency count, a simple percentage was used as data analysis, and a chi-square test was used to test the relationship between variables. From the findings, As small and medium enterprises flourish, they contribute significantly to reducing unemployment and poverty, driving sustainable development, and enhancing the overall quality of life for Nigerians. This dynamic interplay between entrepreneurship and job creation is crucial for harnessing the country's vast human and natural resources, paving the way for a more prosperous and resilient economy.
