ENHANCING THE RELEVANCE OF THEATRE IN THE DIGITAL AGE THROUGH LEVERAGING ON THE SOCIAL MEDIA

SUMMARY

This research work titled “ENHANCING THE RELEVANCE OF THEATRE IN THE DIGITAL AGE THROUGH LEVERAGING THE SOCIAL MEDIA” was centered on three questions which were to find out the challenges of the theatre in relation to the advent of digital technology, discover the possibilities of convergence between theatre and digital technology particularly social media and ascertain how the Nigerian theatre can leverage digital technology and social media to enhance its relevance in the contemporary age? The study made use of the focus group discussion in eliciting information about the research topic using the research questions as a guide, Six participants who are theatre practitioners in the field of theatre art were engaged in this research which comprised of three females and three males, The data gathered was discussed , thereafter recommendations were given.
