ABSTRACT
Funding is an essential factor in any organisation; it is one of the elements of theatre management. Every organisation requires financial, material and human factors to succeed. The study reviewed the significance of funding and effective management as a boost for audience enhancement. Adopting the survey method in its data gathering and analysis, a questionnaire and in-depth interviews were conducted with patrons, students, and lecturers at the University of Benin Theatre. Literature reviews show that effective administrative input is necessary in every organisation and as such encourages patronage. One of the major findings of this research work is that the UNIBEN theatre lacks the necessary facilities and equipment needed to aid effective management and enhanced audience patronage. Thus this study proposed that audience enhancement depend prominently on how effectively and financially a theatre is funded and managed, which helps in preventing problems that arise due to lack of funding and effective management.
