ABSTRACT

Over the years, women in Africa have always been seen as half-baked individuals who cannot think for themselves because society is dominated by men who are chauvinistic in nature. They deem it fit to extradite women from anything good and enforce laws that discriminate against women. The society is so patriarchal and hostile to women, as they see that as the only way, they can continue to oppress women in African society. However, the writers involved in these texts are feminists who speak in favour of gender equality and empowerment for the girl child. Amma Darko and Joy Odewumi both sensitise their audiences through their texts that women can do well in society if they are given the chance to. And they speak against maltreatment of any kind and preach support for women because they are equal. They both encourage people to empower women financially and economically and to educate them because it will be for the good of all, as seen in Beyond the Horizon and Omosalewa, respectively.A
