ABSTRACT

This study was carried out to investigate employees’ motivation on organizational performance using University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Benin City, Edo state. The mass of information generated from the questionnaires was summarized in form of table and analyzed. The researcher administered one hundred and sixty (160) questionnaires to respondents, out of which one hundred and fifty-nine (159) were retrieved for the purpose of presenting and analyzing responses to issues raised in the questionnaires. The hypotheses were tested using the regression analysis statistical tool. The findings from the analysis revealed among other things that; there is a significant relationship between employees’ wellbeing, employees’ job training and employees’ job security on organizational performance. Furthermore, the study revealed that there is no significant relationship between employees’ compensation on organizational performance. The study recommends amongst others that; the organization should maintain an optimum wellbeing of their employees as such would ensure that they remain committed the organizations; the organization should strengthen their employees’ job training as this would ensure they carry out their task with the requisite knowledge; employees should carry out their job role free of fear of being sacked at any slight mistake as job security has been found to be an important motivational tool; and the organization should view and adopt motivational strategies as covered in this study as such would ensure that they derive the benefit of improved performance inherent in adopting motivational strategy.
