ABSTRACT
This study explores the relationship between employee motivation and organizational performance at Nestle Nigeria Plc, located in Agbara, Ogun State. The primary objectives were to examine the relationships between remuneration and job satisfaction, team composition and organizational productivity, work flexibility and organizational effectiveness, leadership style and work productivity, and the impact of employee training and development on job performance and organizational productivity.
A descriptive survey design was employed to gather data from a sample of 450 staff members across various levels of the organization using a well-constructed and validated questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed using Pearson correlation analysis to determine the strength and significance of the relationships between the variables.
The findings revealed positive and significant relationships between remuneration and job satisfaction (r=0.772; p<0.05), team composition and organizational productivity (r=0.896; p<0.05), job empowerment and employee commitment (r=0.896; p<0.05), and work flexibility and organizational effectiveness (r=0.772; p<0.05). These results indicate that factors such as adequate remuneration, effective team composition, job empowerment, and work flexibility are crucial predictors of organizational performance.
It is recommended that there should regularly review and improve remuneration packages, focusing on competitive salaries and benefits. Additionally, they should form diverse, well-balanced teams through strategic hiring and team-building activities. Implementing job empowerment policies, such as decision-making opportunities and professional development, can increase employee commitment. Flexible work arrangements, like remote work and flexible hours, should be considered to improve work-life balance. Investing in leadership development programs to promote transformational and participative leadership styles will motivate employees and improve outcomes. Finally, continuous training and development opportunities are essential to maintain high job performance and productivity.
