ABSTRACT

This study examines the impact of electronic banking systems on the performance of Nigerian banks listed in the Nigerian exchange group (NEG). It specifically focused on ascertaining the impact of electronic banking systems (Mobile banking , Online banking, Point of sales services and USSD) on firm financial performance. Secondary data on the four (4) selected independent variables were collected for ten (10) deposit money banks for the periods of 2018 to 2022. The data was analysed using descriptive statistics, Unit Root, correlation matrix and regression technique. The result showed that mobile banking services (MBS) has affect the outcome of a banks’ financial position. Also, a significant relationship was found between the online banking services and financial performance of the firm, shows that banks make money form online banking services and so will do better financially. Furthermore, point of sales (POS) and USSD services showed a positive relationship with banks’ financial performance. It was recommended that since there exist a positive relationship between mobile banking services and banks performance, banks shovels ensure they put in more efforts to get customers to user the mobile services; and that since online banking services has a positive relationship with firm performance, management deposit money banks should encourage more online banking for their customers.
