ABSTRACT
To argue against democracy in contemporary times is to swim against the current. Election has been identified as one major instrument of a democratic nation to settle dispute and to elect leaders. However, despite the enviable role of election, the Nigerian experience of democracy has witnessed several irregularities in her elections. Perhaps, election malpractices is been currently identified in several academic circles as the cause of the political and social economic underdevelopment in Nigeria. in short, many reasons are been attributed to election malpractices in Nigeria and one of such is that the personality disorder vis. a vis. the quest for power and wealth attached to offices in Nigeria are key motivation for electoral frauds. Thus, this work employs the quantitative research method, sampling a total of 87 respondents to recommend that strict electoral measures and sanctions should be enforced when one is found wanting of electoral misconducts.
