ABSTRACT

This study was designed to analyse the effects of post Covid-19 on tertiary education in Nigeria: University of Benin, Benin City as a case study. The study examined how the post Covid-19 pandemic affected the tertiary education in Nigeria. For this to be achieved, four (4) research questions were raised and literature of other researchers were reviewed. The descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. Data was collected through the aid of a questionnaire. The questionnaire was structured according to the research questions and distributed to sample population of 100 students in the University of Benin, who are the respondents and was validated by the researcher’s supervisor. The content validity was established using test re-test method, the descriptive analysis was used to analyse the data collected.

The findings from the study revealed that the post Covid-19 had significant effects on academic programmes of University of Benin, as it enhanced the progress of academic programmes. The post Covid 19 significantly effects on students’ learning effectiveness in University of Benin. The post Covid 19 has significant effects on teachers’ teaching effectiveness and efficiency in University of Benin. The post Covid 19 has significant effects on students’ academic performance in University of Benin.

It was recommended that more emphasis should be placed in e-learning in order to make student learning processes easier; more trainings should be given to lecturers on the use of internet facilities so they can effectively pass the necessary knowledge to the students; and that e-learning should be greatly encouraged in tertiary institutions because the world is gradually tilting towards the use of internet for teaching and learning
