EFFECTS OF PACKAGING ON STUDENTS’ PURCHASE PREFERENCES IN BENSON IDAHOSA UNIVERSITY

ABSTRACT
The study examined The effects of effect of packaging on students purchase preferences. The study sought to ascertain the extent to which some certain packaging tools affect the purchase preferences of students; what is the relationship between colour and student purchase preferences, what is the relationship between graphics and student purchase preferences, what is the relationship between shape and student purchase preferences what is the relationship between size and students purchase preference. Packaging color, graphics, shape and size were the variables used to determine students purchase preferences. The study adopted the survey design and simple random sampling technique was used, while hypotheses were tested using Regression Analysis. Findings of the study revealed that packaging colour, graphics, shape and size all had relationships with purchase preference of students in Benson Idahosa University Benin City, Nigeria. The study recommended that; colour has a way of fascinating various individuals and potential customers. In this study a majority of respondents indicating the important role that colour played in their product selection process. Producers and manufacturers should therefore find ways of printing more attractive colors or designs on their packaging, Information provided to customers should be simplified and be made less ambiguous, graphics are very integral in the packaging world, stretching their reach of influence to create very appealing products. Producers and manufacturers should find ways of improving on the graphical content and display on their products, and finally Manufacturers should put a lot of attention on the size and weight of their products, because carrying large and or bulky items influenced the purchase preference of the students.
