ABSTRACT
The primary aim of this research work is to demonstrate how Buchi Emecha and Ebehi Imunlega use their characters in Joys of motherhood and Evenfall to analyze the state, causes and effects of distant marriage.
The work is divided into four (4) chapters; chapter one is the introduction and it contains the scope, purpose, review of scholarship and the thesis statement.
Chapter two deals with causes of distant marriage which includes financial problems, arranged marriage, lack of communication etc. chapter three talks about the effects of distant marriage which includes; isolation/sexual frustration, marital infidelity etc. chapter four is the concluding part of the research work.
The methodology for this study is quantitative in nature and data collection relies on close contextual reading, consulting of various books and onune materials and cultural expectations that a woman’s ultimate joy and worth are measured by her children
