ABSTRACT
Effective communication is a fundamental element of successful construction project management. The construction industry in Edo State, Nigeria, plays a significant role in the region's economic development. However, the impact of communication barriers on construction project performance in this context has been underexplored. This research project aims to fill this gap by conducting a comprehensive assessment of communication barriers and their consequences on construction project performance in Edo State. The findings of this study will provide valuable insights into the unique challenges faced by construction projects in Edo State about communication. It will shed light on cultural, organizational, technological, and linguistic factors that contribute to communication barriers. Moreover, the research will assess the extent to which these barriers affect project timelines, budgets, and overall success. The practical implications of this research are significant. By identifying communication barriers and their consequences, project stakeholders can implement targeted strategies to enhance communication effectiveness. This may involve the adoption of advanced communication technologies, cultural sensitivity training, improved project management practices, and stakeholder engagement strategies. Ultimately, addressing these barriers can lead to more efficient and successful construction projects in Edo State, fostering economic growth and sustainable development
