ABSTRACT
This Research is focused on the effectiveness of reward system on motivational level of employees in University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Benin City. The study adopted the following objectives; to examine the relationship between monetary and non-monetary rewards and employees’ morale in UBTH; to examine the difference between financial and non-financial reward management and workers effectiveness in University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Benin City and to find out if there is a relationship between reward and employees performance. Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs was used as a theoretical underpinning of this study which states that workers are motivated to satisfy five levels of needs like physiological, security, belongings, esteem and self-actualization, the hierarchical arrangement suggests that five levels of needs are arranged in order of increasing importance .The study adopted the survey research design and Data used for the study was collected using of both the primary and the secondary sources. The Research concluded that there is no difference between financial and non-financial reward management and workers effectiveness. The Research further recommends that Monetary and non-monetary reward influence employees morale among employees in UBTH. Therefore, the management of UBTH must ensure that an effective and efficient monetary and non-monetary reward system to keep the employees motivated; the extent of reward system in UBTH is not effective. Therefore, the management of UBTH should review and restructure the reward system to make it functional among others.
