ABSTRACT

The aim of this project is to determine the minimum time and cost-effective way to be used in distributing water to a community. The methodology entails use of network analysis models (the minimum spanning tree technique), to properly channel the flow of water to the houses within any community. This technique works by locating the closest minimum distance of any house (node) and connecting it through pipelines to the source of water flow. The next closest unconnected house is also connected through pipelines to the first house. This is done until all the houses in the community are linked up and properly connected to the water supply source, which is because only routes on the minimum spanning tree path are considered and connected to the pipelines. The result of this project work shows that less cost and time will be used to supply water through a community. This subject matter in the project work can as well be applied to other areas of life including, the distribution of petroleum products across cities, road network connections, advertisement/launch of a new product, electric power supply, etc
