ABSTRACT

The study focused on the effect of work stress on the health of non-academic staff of the university of Benin. The population of the study focused on 2500 non academic staff of the university of Benin, but a sample size population of 250 respondents was employed for the analysis which was randomly selected from the entire population. Among the non academic staffs were 110(44%) male and 140(56%) female. This chapter summarizes the findings on the effect of work stress on the health of non-academic staffs of the university of Benin.

The procedure and research design used were descriptive survey design in which questionnaires were calculated using descriptive statistics which are frequency count and percentage. The questionnaire was drawn out from the research questions that was formulated to guide the data collected from the field work. In carrying out the research on the effect of work stress on the health of non-academic staff of the university of Benin, the researcher found out that stress have an impact on the health of non-academic staff. The researcher also found out that the job expectations of the respondents are usually unclear, thereby finding it difficult to carry out the task. The researcher found out that majority of the respondents are not able to meet deadlines due to stress. The researcher found out that majority of the respondents experience headache due to stress at work which affects their health. The researcher found out that majority of the respondents feel disengaged from work due to stress.
