Abstract: Fuel fossil reserves (coal, natural gas, petroleum) which serve as a major source of energy for the world are consequently undergoing a rapid depletion on a worldwide scale and its incessant use has led to several irreversible environmental problems. This has necessitated the search for alternative sources of energy to meet up with the present day to day demands of electrical energy. Scientist have developed more efficient ways of producing energy from alternative energy sources like: solar, wind, bio-energy, geothermal waves and tides, Among which solar remains the most rapidly growing among other alternative sources of renewable energy to aid the mitigation of climate change. 11 the demand for the prediction of operational performance of photovoltaic system has prompted this research study that aims to investigate the effect of weather and other conditions on the performance (efficiency)of solar panels. An experimental analysis with the following apparatus: solar panels, digital multimeter, digital thermometer and tape measure to determine the performance indicating factors of the solar panel (efficiency and output power) making reference to the following parameters: dust accumulation, installation height, shadow cast and the temperature of the solar panels. From the research study, it was discovered that weather and other conditions (accumulation of dust, installation height, shadow cast, temperature) has a considerable effect on the output performance of the solar panels.
