ABSTRACT

 This study investigates the effect of utilization of multimedia tools into the teaching of Physics for Senior Secondary School II Students in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State. The purpose of the study is to explore the effects of integrating multimedia tools on student academic achievement in Physics and also to investigate how the utilization of multimedia enhances student engagement in Physics learning. Four research questions were raised and 2 research questions were hypothesized and analyzed to guide this study.

The design adopted for this study is the survey research design. The sample consisted of 100 respondents (students) randomly selected from five Senior Secondary Schools in ovia North East local Government Area. Questionnaires were used for the collection of data from 100 (one hundred) respondents which were students. The research instrument was validated by the researcher’s supervisor and two experts in the Department of Curriculum and Instructional Technology. The test-retest method was adopted in testing the reliability of the instrument after which the research instruments were administered by the researcher himself. The data obtained were analyzed using mean and standard deviation.

Findings revealed that there is a significant effect on the interest and motivation of Physics students in SS II using multimedia tools to learn physics in Ovia North East Local Government Area. It was also revealed that multimedia has a significant effect on the academic achievement of Physics SS II students in Ovia North East Local Government Area. Based on the findings it was recommended that schools and educational authorities should prioritize providing Physics students with greater access to multimedia resources for learning. It was also recommended that professional development and training opportunities should be offered to Physics teachers to effectively utilize multimedia tools into their teaching methods to enhance student engagement and understanding.
