ABSTRACT

The study examines the effects of training on employee’s productivity. Organizations invest so much on training and development of Human Resources as key asset for continued growth and survival of the business. The purpose of this study is to find out if training and development in Access Bank staff affect their productivity. The study used a survey design instrument of questionnaire to collect data for the analysis. The data was analyzed using the chi-square to complement the sample percentage used in the questionnaire. The study discovered that there is a positive perception towards training and development among employees of the bank understudy. The study further revealed that the type of training method in the bank includes on-the-job (such as; coaching, job rotation, internship, etc) and off-the -Job training (such as; lectures, case study, role playing, etc) and cut across all staff categories in the Bank. It is being discovered by the study that productivity of employees increases as a result of constant training. The study recommended that The Human Resource department should host seminars and workshops on the value of a systematic approach to training and the right steps to take in detecting skill gaps in the various departments, Departments heads need to be made aware of the value of sending the correct individual to training. They shouldn't view training chances as ways to reward their supporters, the management should avoid recommending personnel for training based on favoritism, Employees should be urged to enroll in additional educational opportunities that could improve their overall performance and boost organizational success, after training, an employee's performance should be properly assessed and evaluated using a system that should be put in place. The organizations may choose to use some of the employee performance indicators listed in this research work, The HR department should make sure that the training methods used for employees are suitable and content-rich. A trainer that is competent and experienced in that field should be hired to provide the training while also ensuring that the curriculum can address all of the skill gaps that have been discovered.
