ABSTRACT
The trial was conducted at the screen House of the Department of Crop Science, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Benin, Benin city to examine the effect of Top soil and Poultry manure On the growth and yield of Celosia argentea. The experiment involved five treatment which includes treatment includes Poultry Manure, Top soil, Top soil + poultry manure 1:1, Top soil + poultry manure 1:2, Top soil + poultry Manure 2:1. laid out in completely randomized design and replicated three times. Data were collected on plant height, stem girth, numbers of leaves and leaf area at three, five and seven weeks after sowing (WAS). At Harvest, data were collected on herbage yield. Physical and chemical properties varied among potting media. Results showed that all potting media had variable properties, values of growth characters varied among potting mixtures. Highest herbage yields were observed in TS + PM 1:2 and 2:1.
