ABSTRACT
This study investigated the Effect of Time Management on Academic Performance of Students in University of Benin. This study adopted the survey research design. A total of 200 respondents were selected for the study using stratified sampling technique. Questionnaire was used to collect primary data. The findings revealed that firstly, Findings of the study show that Inadequate planning leads to poor time management among students in University of Benin, the study reveals that academic performance is affected by time management by students in University of Benin, the study also reveal that Personal devices such as mobile phones, iPods and blackberries should be put away while studying as it cause of improper use of time. Also, it revealed by the study that Epileptic power supply is a setback to time management of students in University of Benin. Lastly, the study further revealed that students Involvement in religious activities affects and proper use of time by students in the University of Benin. Based on the findings, the study recommended that there is need for the engagement of guidance and counselling to help orientating students on effective management of one’s time. Secondly, there is also the need for students to be mindful of the kind of friends they keep as this hugely influence their engagement and time wastage. Thirdly, it might be necessary to include time management in the curriculum of foundation courses such as General Studies taken by all students in their foundation year in the University. This will be a benign way of enhancing academic performance of sandwich students.
