ABSTRACT

The Study was carried out to determine the effect of the level of literacy of parents on students academic performance in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State, four research questions were raised to guide this study. The population of this study comprises of parents, teachers and students of 10 randomly selected public secondary schools in Ovia North East Local Government Area which constitute the population of the study which is Two Thousand Five Hundred and Thirty Two (2532) students from government owned senior secondary schools in the area. The sample size for this study was a total number of Two Hundred and Fifty Five (255) respondents within the area of the study. Which represents (10%) of Two Thousand Five Hundred and Thirty Two (2532) students from government senior secondary school selected using a simple random sampling technique. The instrument used for the study is a structured questionnaire. The questionnaire contains two parts. Part one will provide information on demographic data of respondents while part two will contain items to be responded by respondents drawn in line with the research questions earlier raised.
