ABSTRACTS

The study established the effect of stability training on dynamic balance of primary school pupils.

The population of the study comprised pupils from public primary schools in Ovia North-East Local Government Area of Edo State, Nigeria. The sample size of the study comprised 20 students from a single public primary school drawn from the population using simple random sampling technique. The instrument for data collection was anthropometric measurement, the pupils were also tested by evaluating their turning balance, stepping balance, sit-to-stand balance and squatting balance. All groups were pre-tested before the training program and post tested after the training program. Mean and standard deviation was used in answering all the research questions while Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was used to test all the null hypotheses.

The result showed that stability training has a positive effect in the dynamic balance of primary school children. From the findings, it was recommended among others that state government in synergy with the school authorities should provide good stability training instruction program which will aid pupils’ dynamic balance and by extension the strength of the pupils.
