Summary
This study examined poor maintenance of studio equipment and the practice of art in the University of Benin, Benin City. The researcher employed the use the descriptive survey research method. Four research questions were raised to guide the study and are stated as follows: 1. What are students’ perceptions on the causes of poor maintenance of Fine Art studio equipment in the University of Benin? 2. What are the effects of poor maintenance of Fine Art studio equipment on students’ academic performance in the University of Benin? 3. Are students use of studio equipment linked to its poor maintenance culture in the University of Benin? 4. What are students’ perceptions on ways studio equipment can be maintained for effective art teaching in the University of Benin?
