ABSRACT

The study examined the effect of poor maintenance of studio equipment and its implications on Fine and Applied Art students in the University of Benin. To guide the study, four research questions were raised.

The survey research design was used for this research work. Four research questions were raised to guide the study. Questionnaire was designed and used for data collection. A total of fifty (50) respondents were used in the study. The simple percentage was used for analyzing data obtained from the study.

Based on the findings made, it was discovered that certain factors were responsible for the poor maintenance of studio equipment and the effects on fine and applied art students. Amongst these factors are: nonchalant attitude from both student representatives and school authorities, lack of policy. Therefore, the University authorities should set strict laws that will motivate the good maintenance culture.
