EFFECT OF LEADERSHIP SKILLS ON EMPLOYEES’ PERFORMANCE: (A STUDY OF GUINNESS NIG PLC)

ABSTRACT

This study sought to investigate whether leadership skills such as technical skills, conceptual skills, interpersonal skills, affect productivity of employee in Guinness Nigeria Plc. The objectives of this study include; 1. To assess the effect of leadership skills on employee’s performance in Guinness Nigeria Plc, Edo State Plant 2. To ascertain how leader/employee relationship affect employee’s performance3. To determine the effect of leadership/employee relationship as it affects organizational profitability in Guinness Nigeria Plc. The sample size was 80 determined with the use of Taro Yamani’s formula. The researcher made use of primary data; and copies of the questionnaire were distributed to collect the data.  The data was analysed with the use of percentages, tables and Chi-square in testing the hypotheses. The findings were: There is a significant relationship between a leader’s technical skills and productivity, there is a significant relationship between a leader’s interpersonal skills and productivity, and there is a significant relationship between a leader’s conceptual skills and productivity.
