ABSTRACT
Escherichia coliprevalence varies greatly among the numerous hosts it infects, and is determined by factors like body size, microbiota and nutrition such as iron, carbon and nitrogen. Iron usually plays a role in general bacteria growth and pathogens compete for iron in iron stressed environment of host’s tissues and body. However, this study suggests that 44 iron chloride acts as a limiting growth element and also aids in reducing the susceptibility of E. coli to various antibiotics. Further research will be required to confirm this.
