ABSTRACT

The study investigated the effect of government funding on public secondary schools in the Oredo local government areas of Edo Sate. Four questions were raised to fund the study. Research question 1 tested at level 0.05 level significance. The descriptive survey research with adopted correlation research design was employed in the study. The sample size of the study was made up of eighty (80) respondents randomly selected from five (5) public senior secondary school in Oredo local government area of Edo State. The instrument for the data collection was a structured questionnaire and a checklist which was distributed to participant. the instrument was retrieved and analyzed using mean and standard deviation. The findings if this study revealed that there is no significant relationship between funding and academic performance of the junior secondary school students in Oredo local government area of Edo state. Based on the findings, it was recommended among others that government should continue with the funding of secondary schools in Oredo local government area of Edo State. The findings will provide valuable insights for educators interested in improving the quality of education in the region.
