ABSTRACT
This research examines the impact of emerging technologies on the academic performance of students at the University of Benin, leveraging a descriptive survey design to navigate through the complexities of technological influences and attitudes. A rich sample of 400 students was instrumental in harnessing insightful data, which was eloquently curated through structured questionnaire. A hallmark discovery of the study was the pronounced influence of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) on academic performance, substantiated by compelling statistical values like a ChiSquare value of 299.400 and p-values of 0.000. These technologies emerged as significant enhancers of academic experiences, showcasing a landscape where education is dynamically interwoven with technological advancements. The research also found significant patterns in how attitudes affect the utilizations of technologies, where aspects like ‘addiction’, 'Fear of wrong usage' were found to affect the use of emerging technologies in learning. Synthesizing these findings, the study advocates for an embracement of emerging technologies in the educational realm, recognizing their transformative potentials while also navigating the variations and nuances in their impacts and receptions.
