ABSTRACT
The study investigated the effect of divorce on children’s academic performance. Objectives of the study were; effect of divorce on students’ academic performance, divorce has any effect on student’s concentration level on academic performance, the effect of divorce on student’s academic performance based on lack of social maturity in school, divorce increase the effect of lack of participation in general school activities. Descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. While the findings of the study show that divorced has negative effect on student’s academic performance. Student’s concentration academically can be affected if the parents are divorced and creates room for emotional disturbance. These youth development workers should provide service to young people who come from marital broken families. Recommendations were made thus; policy makers should formulate policies that would provide support to young people who come from marital broken families especially those who are facing financial hardships. They should also work at schools and work hand in hand with the Department of Education by identifying these categories of young people in order to help them.
