Abstract
A study was carried out in 2023/2024 at the Department of Crop Science screen house, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Benin, Ugbowo Campus, Benin City to evaluate the response of growth of ginger to Topsoil/poultry manure media. The trial involved three potting (TS+PM1:1, TS+PM1:2 and TS+PM2:1) laid out in a randomized complete design and replicated eight times. Growth parameters were taken at 8 and 12 weeks after planting (WAP), the growth parameters observed were plant height, stem girth, number of leaves. Results showed significant variation in plant height, number of leaves and stem girth at 8 to 12 weeks. Among potting Media except stem girth at 12 weeks after planting. Plant height were tallest at eight weeks after planting in 1:2 top soil/poultry medium (53.00cm). Thickest (2.69cm) and most leafy (3.94) were observed in TS/PM 1:2 media but were not significantly superior to TS/PM 2:1 media. TP/PM 2:1 should be thereby suggested for Urban ginger growers for easy preparation and cost efficiency
