ABSTRACT
This project tends to cover areas of daylighting in interior spaces in residential buildings, with the major focus on school hostels in the University of Benin. For centuries, daylight has been used as the major source of light in internal spaces. Hence, it has been a very core area of architecture and design for as long as buildings have been consciously designed and constructed. Apart from the fact that it reduces the use of electric light during the day, it also influences heating and cooling loads, making it an essential parameter for an energy efficient design. Furthermore, daylight has been noted to have greatly influenced the health and comfort benefits of occupants of buildings where it has been properly implemented.
