ABSTRACT
This study focuses on the Effect Of Community Policing On Crime Prevention In Nigeria: A Case Study Of Egor Lga, Edo State, Nigeria. The general objective of the study is to investigate the impact of the community police on crime control in Egor LGA. Four research questions relating to the interrogatives in the statement of the problem and the objectives of the study are derived from this work as framework for answers. The study covers four communities. The target population is 100. The study uses the survey design. The questionnaire instrument is used to gather primary data from a sample of 100 respondents selected by multi – stage and stratified random sampling of streets from Egor LGA. The analysis of the data is done using single percentage,. The findings of the study reveal the various means employed by the community police in crime control; It was therefore recommended that restructuring of the community police is essential. The quality of people recruited into it should be taken into consideration and finance which seems to be a major constraint of the force should be made available for the procurement of the needed technology, ammunition and other facilities such as vehicles to aid effectiveness of the force.
