ABSTRACT
This study examined on the effects of bullying on secondary school students in Emotan Secondary Schools in Oredo Local Government Area. The study adopted descriptive research survey design in building up this project work. The sample size for the study was made up of 216 students drawn from JSS1-SS3 in Emotan Secondary School in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. The data collected was analyzed using frequency count and simple percentage. The study revealed that there is a high level of bullying among students in Emotan Secondary Schools in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. It was concluded that bullying negatively impact on students’ academic performance and students’ mental health in Emotan Secondary Schools in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. The study recommends that school administrators should see to it that adequate and appropriate disciplinary measures are taken against perpetrators of bullying and justice must be secured for the bullied (victims). It was also recommended that male students as well as female students should be counselled through seminars and workshops on the negative effect of bullying on students’ performance and mental health.
