ABSTRACT
The purpose of the study was to examine the production of salt in Ebony State using Ohaozara Local Government as a case study.
To achieve the basic objective of this study, the study was divided into five functionally related chapters. To start with, in chapter one a broad introduction to the study with references to background to Nigeria foreign policy was undertook. Following that, the purpose of the study was started, viz to dispel the growing negative perception of salt production in Ohaozara Ebony State. The methodology of study was clearly stated to include oral traditions and written materials. The scope of study was noted to be from 1960, after which relevant literature relating to the work were thoroughly reviewed
The second chapter of the study discussed the Historical Background of Ohaozara in Ebony State. As the chapter explains this chapter focuses on the history of the ingenious people of Ohaozara, the chapter examines the origin of many of the ethnic groups that make up the area, while revealing that the region had witnessed increased European commercial penetration from the 19th century with the establishment of Oil River Protectorates.
