ABSTRACT  

Sentiment analysis for product reviews, also known as text orientation analysis or opinion mining, refers to the process of automatically analyzing the subjective commentary text with the customer's emotional color and deriving the customer's emotional tendency. Although research applying sentiment analysis to understand user opinion is fast growing. This research is distinct as there is none of the existing work that is fully focused on an indigenous Nigeria e-commerce application as most are focused on western e-commerce application. Hence this research work looked at what sentiment analysis is, x-ray other previous research on sentiment analysis, give a detailed outlook on the methodology used, which are data scraping/collection, data preprocessing, application of the best machine learning algorithm and evaluating the result by showing it polarity and subjectivity scores.
