E-COMMERCE AND PERFORMANCE OF ENTREPRENEURIAL FIRMS IN NIGERIA

ABSTRACT

Traditional entrepreneurship is usually easily measured in its contributions to economic and social development as well as job creation. But, same is not the case for technology entrepreneur as most of them work on virtual space, making them abstract contributors therefore leaving us with inaccurate measurements on entrepreneurial performance through e-commerce. Questionnaire is the main research instruments used for the study to gather necessary data from the sample respondents. “70 copies of the questionnaire were administered while some of the respondents were further interviewed through personal contact, and the 70 questionnaires administered were recovered showing a 100 percent recovery from the respondents. To investigate the role of e-commerce, this study examines the extent to entrepreneurs collaborate and partner for value creation. In the course of this examination, it became apparent that the initial research question is not easy accessible as the impact of e-commerce is extremely complex in its nature. The findings reveal numerous challenges entrepreneurs scale through the inclusion of e-commerce in the business processes. Other findings expose the relationship of entrepreneurs and their performance with e-commerce, and its effect on their output through and improvement in their performance. In line with the findings of the study, it is therefore recommended that; the entrepreneurs should put in place adequate measures/structures to generate knowledge, skills, talents and ideas that can encourage new forms of innovation through participating in e-commerce. We also learnt how Poor access to information can limit the progress an entrepreneur can make.The internet is the biggest market place and there is a market for every form of sale or service, so entrepreneurs should learn to make the most of the global market through investment in more advertisement on the social media through e-commerce.
