ABSTRACT

This study was carried out on Plato’s conception of the ideal state and the movie, Divergent. To achieve this, significant research objective were formulated to showcase the various notions of societies as visited by Plato and Divergent. The studied covered the whole conception of society alongside everything Plato had said concerning it. The definitions of society are relevant throughout the world because everyone is a part of society and everyone is on the quest for an ideal state where contradictions and problems of leadership and followership don’t exist. The study adopted the analytical methodology. Hence the study analyzed Divergent as a critique to Plato’s classification of the ideal state. The chapter two of this project discusses Plato and his classification of the ideal state, chapter three discusses Divergent, draws its similarities and differences with the ideal state.
